Well it is the end of my first day in Florence and I am so tired!! I barely slept on the plane to Frankfurt because of screaming kids and just not being comfortable sleeping. But I have made it through without any naps! YAY! When we finally arrived in Florence the weather was cold, windy and rainy. But we did have the shuttle thing to bring us directly to the hotel. The hotel is kinda funky but in a good way. We are on the second floor of this fairly nondescript building and my room is at the very end of the hall. Once we got here we all hung out while others were arriving. Finally around 6 the professors stopped by and held a meeting. Then we had a fabulous dinner that consisted of a pasta appetizer, with bread and oil, then some chicken with a salad, for dessert we had cantaloupe. The whole thing was paired with a red wine that I think resembled a Merlot but I could be wrong. After dinner at the hotel the group went out walking around the city to see where classes are tomorrow and also to see some main sites and just get acclimated with the city in general. I took a bunch of photos already and we were only out for like 2 hours! We stopped by the duomo, the baptistry, the hospital of the innocents, San Lorenzo and a few other places. At the duomo I bought some very yummy gelato that was I think a mixed berry with Lingonberries or at least something like that. That is all I have for now since I am very very tired and need sleep.
